Hello

As many artists will tell you, the dream of becoming an artist starts young, and I am no different. The moment I could imagine something and put it on paper I wanted nothing more than to do that all the time. The joy that I felt then never went away, and it has been over two decades since I made the decision to never stop making art.

 

When I left highschool I went directly to SUNY Purchase for Painting and Drawing and Psychology. At 19 I began to waiver and felt the pressure many college students feel; to pick something sensible, something safe. I caved and made my way back Upstate to SUNY Cortland to finish my Undergraduate education with a Psychology degree. I hadn’t created anything in two years, the longest I had ever gone. From there the pandemic had started and I was working in the medical field in direct support and in administration at a clinic. I began drawing again slowly to cope with the stress. By the end of 2021 I had started Green Leaf Illustrations, and began seriously pursuing art again.

 

The path I am on now to becoming a professional artist is windy and stuttering. I find myself constantly pausing and re-assessing my goals; what is possible in this unstable world?

 

In the past three years I have created a home for myself in the local art community. I am teaching art classes at galleries, gardens and local businesses. I have learned so many different ways to create; mural and fabric arts to name a couple. I am taking classes at my local community college in design and digital applications. Most importantly, I have learned how to build strong lasting relationships with the wonderful artists here in Central New York.

 

I will never be able to live without art, and I will continue to love and learn through the creative art process.
